This type is a complete closure valve. It allows fuel to flow in the direction of the arrow but when the fuel flow is reversed, the internal shuttle slides across preventing reverse flow.
Also available is a valve with a bleed facility. When the flow is reversed fuel may slowly trickle backwards. This particular valve is useful in the vent line of a fuel system where allowance for expansion is necessary.
