If you've seen sealant where it doesn't belong, it's going to have to leave the premises. But how do you do it without causing harm to paint or an undercoat or to the applied area? And how do you remove the gunk if it rests in tight places?

The "SR" Sealant Cutters from 3M tackle the difficult job of removing aircraft sealants in a wide range of situations including aircraft wing fuel tanks. Because SR Cutters have a hollow core, they can remove sealant around the heads of aircraft fasteners such as rivets, Hi-Loks , or bolts.

Because they are also "side-cutting", they are perfectly situated for removing sealant fillets in seams found in areas such as fuel tanks. Designed for use in low RPM threaded drill motors, SR Cutters feature an industry standard 1/4-28 male thread to attach directly to a 90 or 45 degree threaded drill motor.

Manufactured from a proprietary plastic resin material, SR Cutters will easily slice through aircraft sealants but will not damage fasteners or underlying structures. For optimal performance, SR Cutters should be operated at 800-1000RPM, the maximum operating speed should not exceed 1,500 RPM.
